THE THIN PLACES:
ANNAGH HEAD/CEANN AN EANAIGH
THE LAND EATING THE SEA
2002 - ANNAGH HEAD / CEANN AN EANAIGH
‘The thin edge between the sea and the rock...unrelenting time wearing time...the tide out...the tide in...always and never the same..where the land eats the sea...
Inspired by early monastic beehives. The project is ‘a refuge on the one hand, but also a vista celebrating the peninsul’s eating of the sea’. One sits there meditating the landscape which is interputed by the rusted steel frames looking out to the sea.
An tairseach chaol idir muir agus carraig... an t-am ag gabháil thart gan stad gan staonadh... lán mara... lagtrá... mar an gcéanna ach difriúil i gcónaí... áit a n-íosann an talamh an fharraige...
Spreagtha ag cillíní na manach anallód, tá an togra seo ‘ina tearmann ar lámh amháin de, ach ina sraithradharc ar an lámh eile a cheiliúrann lámh uachtair na leithinse i gcoinne na farraige. Suitear ansin ag machnamh, ag breathnú amach ar an bhfarraige trí fhrámaí meirgeacha cruach.
